Who'd of Thunk It?

BismIllah wa as salaamu alaykum!

Well, here it is. My first post since moving to Madinah al Munawarrah. Subhaan Allah! Words have truly escaped me these last weeks. We have been here since October 19th 2009 and so much has happened in this past month that I don't know where to begin. So I won't, LOL.

What I will say is that I never planned to work and here I am teaching English in Al Fusha School for Girls. I get to go to school with all three of my girls every day. I get to be there for them in a new environment, to support them and encourage them to make friends with children who don't speak their language, and I am surrounded by classical Arabic - the language of the Quran. I have colleagues who speak to me in fus-Ha and yet want to learn English. We all stroll into the gates of the school and remove our niqaabs, abayas, and hijaabs and walk around freely all day enjoying fresh air and sunshine from the shaded courtyard. A world of our own - comfortable and protected. A Girl's Club.

Already, as I walk around without nudity or obscenity in my surroundings, I dread returning to anywhere in the West. If I rarely hear singing, it is nasheed. For every unattractive aspect or backward thing I encounter here, there are countless positives to outweigh them. All thanks and praise is for Allah, The Perfect One. He has shown us, in every way and at every station, that His Plan for us has been Perfectly Orchestrated. We are greatly blessed.

  3. Wa alaykum as salaam wa Rahmat Allah!

May you both find your way here, bi ithn Allah taala! It isn't very hard if your husband has a degree to get a teaching post at Taibah University in Madinah. They are actively seeking teachers and assistants masha'Allah. My husband spent the past 5 years getting his academic qualifications, but look at the reward and how quickly 5 years passes.

Jazaakum Allahu khayran sisters for your beautiful comments and striving hearts!

Awww, I am soooo happy for you, you have no idea sis! I was just looking at the pix from the camping trip this past summer, and I was wondering how you were doing. This beautiful post brought a smile to my face and tears to my eyes, to know that you made it to Madinah, and are enjoying your time there, alhamdulilah! You are such a beautiful sister, and you deserve many rewards for all your help and kindness to others. I pray that Allah (SWT) continues to bless you and your lovely family, Ameen. (((HUGS)))

  6. Assalamu alayki,

MashAllaah...now that is sabr :)), i thought i was the only one!! I must have sabr for my husband to complete his studies which will take about 5 years too!! ( I wish there was another way out), i hope we can be patient. We left for the muslim lands for almost 2 years only to come back qadr Allaah wa maa shaa fa3ala. Inshallah this time we will try and be more prepared and hopefully never have to live in dar ul kufr again. I am 23 and he is 26...alhamdulilah we have learnt alot from our first move and inshAllaah we are alot wiser. BarakAllahu feeki for sharing ya uhkti al karimah.

  7. Wa alayki salaam wa Rahmat Allah wa Barakatuh Umm Abdullah.

Dua' and sabr and the best things to proceed with. If the 5 year route is best, then Allah will get you through it with ease inshaa'Allah. It is amazing how quickly those years passed for us, mashaa'Allah.

Education is the safest base to have, inshaa'Allah. Even if you set up business in a country to maintain residence, having qualifications that enable you to get a good job is important. If anything goes wrong, you will always be able to find work at a good inshaa'Allah.

May Allah make hijrah a reality for you and give you sabr and tawakkal - ameen.
