Scream, Shout, Kick shaytaan OUT!

Bism Illah wa as salaamu alaykum wa Rahmat Allah wa Barakatuh.

Ever felt depressed, miserable, unhappy with life and unable to cope with trials? Well, it's all the workings of iblees, a.k.a. shaytaan and his helpers. I know what it is like. I, too, have been grabbed by the ankles by that rotten devil before now, and dragged towards the pit of no-emaan. The key is to know that shaytaan is at the root of the problem, and then deal with him.

Understand that it is a war between you and shaytaan.

DO NOT LET HIM WIN.

Say the following, with as much calm determination, force, or volume as you need.

"Audhu b'Illahi min ash-shaytaan ir-rajeem"
If an evil impulse from Satan provokes you, seek refuge in Allah. He is All-Hearing, All-Seeing. As for those who fear Allah, when they are bothered by visitors from Satan, they remember and immediately see clearly. (Surat al-A’raf, 200-201)

"Allahu Akbar"
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Satan runs through the blood veins of son of Adam, but when he remembers Allah, Satan retreats!”
"Bism Illah, leave me alone"
Abul-Maleeh (ra) reports that a man said, “I was behind the Messenger (saw) and his riding animal stumbled.  I said, “May Shaytaan perish”, and he said, “Do not say, “May Shaytaan perish”.  If you say that he will grow in size until he becomes the size of a house and says, “By my strength”.  Instead say, “In the Name of Allaah”.  When you say that, he reduces in size until he is like a fly.” (Abu Dawood, saheeh isnad).
Constantly repeat adhkaar - Subhaan Allah, Al Hamdu l'Illah, Allahu Akbar.

Negate shaytaan's power by saying, "La hawla wa la  quwatta ila b'Illah."

Recite Ayat al Kursi.

Say the adhaan.

Recite the Qur'aan in your house - especially Surat ul Baqarah, which will send him fleeing.
Abu Hurayrah (ra) reports that Allaah’s Messenger (saw) said, “Do not turn your houses into graves. Indeed Shaytaan flees from a house in which Surah al-Baqarah is recited.” (Muslim).
Pull out all your ammunition from your du'a book. Direct all your anger, bad feeling, frustration, emotion, and energy into screaming, shouting, and kicking shaytaan out. No, it isn't a typo that I don't capitalize that rotten devil's name - he doesn't deserve the respect of a capital letter.

I know this sounds extreme, but it works. You will have channeled all that negative energy into something positive and good - into tawakkal and ibadah. You will find yourself at the end of that feeling like a huge weight has been lifted from you.

May Allah protect us all from the evil workings and whisperings of shaytaan and grant us the ultimate success of His Pleasure, Mercy, and Jennah - ameen.

Subhaan Allah, what a huge blessing to know that you have found some benefit here! It is purely Allah sent, to you and to me.

It is important to have someone remind you to the good and return you to Allah for all your affairs. He is the One you can truly open up to and know that you will have the perfect response from. Al hamdu l'Illah for blessing us both with his Guidance.

Ameen to your dua' and I pray we will meet in Jennah al Firdaus - ameen.

  5. Wa alaykum as salaam wa Rahmat Allah wa Barakatuh Umm Assad.

Wa iyaaki, my sister! A few years ago, I stood in the kitchen screaming, shouting, and kicking shaytaan out. My daughters asked me what I was doing, so I told them. Although most of the time they simply hear me seek refuge in Allah from shaytaan, they have seen how I handle times of fitna. Whenever they are clearly affected by that stinker's whispers, I tell them to seek refuge and sometimes talk them through it. Inshaa'Allah, it will be invaluable ammunition throughout their lives, and ours, against our greatest enemy.

  13. Wa alaykum as salaam wa Rahmat allah wa Barakatuh to Umm Abdulla, Mimisha, Umm Zakarya, and Huda!

I think we always need to have these weapons ready because shaytaan is messing around with us ALL the time, subhaan Allah. Imagine, I wrote this over four years ago when I used to be on Muslim Space. I couldn't find it on my computer anymore so I had to rewrite it. Qadr Allah, it has been shared now.

Umm Zakarya, Wa iyaaki, but I'm just another sister like you. I'm not an inspiration, Allah and His messenger are. Nothing is from me, it's purely Islam...absolute perfection!

  14. Wa alaykum as salaam wa Rahmat Allah wa Barakatuh Shamael my sweetie!

Subhaan Allah! I thought you must have gone back to the States by now. I was surely wondering what was going on and mention you every time we drive near your old apartment. How are the girls and Big Baby Q?

Mashaa'Allah, some of the brothers who worked here transferred to ArAr and they love it! I hope that it is good for you and your family. Certainly, I think being away from the bustle of Madinah and the independence that the brothers have teaching there are wonderful benefits.

I am soooo happy that you find some benefit in what I write...and discuss it with your MR, lol! Inshaa'Allah it leads to some very productive communication. May Allah bless you, your marriage, and your family with happiness, satisfaction, and success in this life and the next - ameen!

As for me, ameen to your dua'. I am very happy, mashaa'Allah. Jazaaki Allahu khayran for catching up with me; I have been smiling ever since reading your message.

  15. i so needed this JazakAllah khair. Shaytaan seems to be working over time with me, it is taking all of my strength to be patient and not absolutely flip but InshaAllah ill not let shaytan succeed. Having said that, I dont think patience is the answer to my issues, dont know what is :(

  16. As salaamu alaykum my dear Sweetlikechocolate.
Wa iyaaki. Never think that you can go wrong with patience, because Allah clearly tells us He is with the patient. That said, Make dua'! You have a special audience with Allah in such a situation. Make dua' for the good, make dua' for guidance, make dua' for clarity, understanding, and resolution. Ask Allah to protect you from the fitna and set things right! I am certainly asking the same for you over here. Dua' is the answer because the only One who can change things is Allah. However, if He guides you to something, don't hesitate to follow His guidance.

My love to you...and a big Mama Mai hug.
